These Terms & Conditions apply to purchases made from Sable & Birch through our website, by consultation, or through any other agreed sales channel. By placing an order with Sable & Birch, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
 

About Sable & Birch

Sable & Birch designs, sources and supplies furniture and home pieces, including handcrafted and reclaimed furniture, bespoke pieces and selected one-off items. As many of our products are handmade, reclaimed, restored or individually sourced, natural variation is an important part of their character.
 

Products & Product Descriptions

We make every reasonable effort to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, measurements, finishes and other information shown on our website are accurate.

However, colours and finishes may appear slightly different depending on lighting, photography and screen settings.

Because many Sable & Birch pieces are made using natural or reclaimed materials, variations may occur in:

• Colour

• Grain

• Texture

• Knots

• Marks

• Small imperfections

• Natural movement within the timber

These characteristics are not normally considered faults and form part of the individual character of the piece.

For antique, vintage, restored or Archive pieces, signs of age, previous use and historical wear may also be present.

Bespoke & Made-to-Order Pieces

Some Sable & Birch furniture is made specifically for the customer. Where you request a bespoke size, finish, configuration or other customisation, you are responsible for checking that all details are correct before confirming your order. Once production has begun, changes may not always be possible. Bespoke and personalised products may also have different cancellation or return rights where permitted by law.

Measurements

Product measurements are provided as accurately as possible. Small variations may occur with handmade furniture. Before placing an order, customers are responsible for ensuring that the item will fit within the intended space and can be safely delivered through entrances, hallways, staircases, lifts and other access points.

Prices

All prices shown on the Sable & Birch website are displayed in pounds sterling (£) unless otherwise stated.

Delivery charges, where applicable, will be shown separately or agreed with you before your order is confirmed.

We reserve the right to correct pricing errors where a product has clearly been displayed incorrectly.

If this affects an order you have already placed, we will contact you before proceeding.
 

Payment

Payment must be made using one of the payment methods accepted by Sable & Birch.

Your order may not enter production, be dispatched or be reserved until the required payment has been received.

For bespoke or made-to-order furniture, different payment arrangements or deposits may be agreed before work begins.
 

Order Acceptance

Receiving an order confirmation does not necessarily mean that your order has been formally accepted.

We may need to contact you to confirm availability, specifications, delivery arrangements or other order details.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order where reasonably necessary, including where:

• A product is unavailable

• Incorrect pricing has been displayed

• Payment cannot be authorised

• We cannot reasonably fulfil the order

• There has been an obvious error in the product listing

If payment has already been taken for an order we cannot fulfil, the relevant amount will be refunded.
 

Delivery

Delivery times provided by Sable & Birch are estimates unless a specific delivery date has been expressly agreed.

Made-to-order and handcrafted furniture may require a longer lead time than ready-made items.

We will make reasonable efforts to keep you informed of significant delays.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate delivery information and ensuring reasonable access to the delivery address.

Checking Your Order

Please inspect your order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

If your item arrives damaged, incomplete or incorrect, please contact Sable & Birch promptly and provide photographs where appropriate so that we can investigate.
 

Returns & Cancellations

Your cancellation and return rights may vary depending on the type of product purchased.

Standard products may be eligible for cancellation or return in accordance with your applicable consumer rights and our Delivery & Returns Policy.

Bespoke, personalised or made-to-order products may not be eligible for change-of-mind returns where an applicable legal exception applies.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights.

Furniture Care

Customers are responsible for following any care guidance provided with their furniture.

Natural wood furniture may react to changes in temperature, humidity, sunlight and moisture.

Sable & Birch cannot accept responsibility for damage caused by inappropriate care, misuse, unsuitable storage, accidental damage, excessive heat or moisture, or failure to follow reasonable care instructions.
 

Reclaimed & Natural Materials

Reclaimed timber has a history.

Natural marks, knots, previous fixing points, grain variation, texture changes and other characteristics may remain visible after preparation and finishing.

These features are intentional and are part of the Sable & Birch aesthetic.

Natural timber may also move slightly over time as it responds to its environment.
 

The Archive

Items within The Archive may include antique, vintage, restored, reclaimed or previously owned pieces.

Due to their age and history, these products may show signs of previous use, wear, repairs or natural ageing.

We will aim to describe significant characteristics or known imperfections within the product listing.

Archive pieces are generally individual items, meaning availability cannot be guaranteed once an item has been sold.
 

Intellectual Property

All Sable & Birch branding, original photography, written content, graphics, product descriptions and other original website content remain the property of Sable & Birch unless otherwise stated.

They may not be reproduced, copied or used for commercial purposes without prior permission.
 

Website Use

You may use the Sable & Birch website for lawful personal purposes.

You must not knowingly:

• Misuse or interfere with the website

• Attempt unauthorised access to the website or associated systems

• Use the website for fraudulent activity

• Copy or exploit website content for unauthorised commercial purposes
   

Liability

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

To the extent permitted by law, Sable & Birch is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses resulting from the use of our website, products or services.
 

Events Outside Our Control

Sable & Birch will not be responsible for delays or failure to perform obligations where this results from circumstances reasonably outside our control.

This may include circumstances such as severe weather, transport disruption, supplier delays, industrial action or other unexpected events.

Where possible, we will contact affected customers and work to minimise disruption.
 

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The version applying to your purchase will normally be the version in force when your order was placed.
 

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws applicable in England and Wales.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law.
